I attended your workshop in Baltimore last year. I thought it was really wonderful. At that time, I had a client who was expecting a still birth. Your workshop helped me tremendously - not only to help my client but also to help myself. I hope you don't mind, but I forwarded your workshop info to about 10 of the birth related yahoo lists I am on. I think it is important that we as birth workers (midwives, birth assistants, doulas, childbirth educators, etc.) have a skill set for helping mamas who may experience this. I won't be attending this year but just wanted to send a quick thank you.

Miriam, I passed your information on to my fellow Bradley Method teachers in the states you posted about. I wanted you to know that I told them that I use something from your workshop (Asheville, NC) almost every day. There's something I remember or am able to focus on that helps me get through each day. I feel that I met someone very important to my life's purpose and who is a healer for all of us. In every one of my childbirth education series, I tell my students about the angel and the baby and the baby's job of having to uncover the tools needed to heal the earth. Thank you for being the wonderful teacher and guide that you are.

I attended Miriam's workshop on supporting women through perinatal death 13 days after the stillbirth of my daughter. Her seminar was just what I needed as a doula and grieving mother. Miriam has the amazing ability to combine the professional side of birthing along with the emotional and personal side. I came away from her seminar with consolation as the doula and as the mother. In a subject as sensitive and painful as losing a child one needs to be aware of the vast amount of tools needed to assist a grieving/birthing mother. Her seminar addresses the loss and grieving process head on and gives a clear understanding of how to support a women and her family while taking care of yourself in the process.

I want to personally thank you for coming and doing our workshop. The weekend after our workshop my dad (step dad) became increasingly ill. He returned to the hospital on the Saturday. If not for your workshop I would have held a different outlook on death. I was there for my dad's passing, and it was beautiful for him to be surrounded by his family and friends. I don't think I would have been there emotionally had I not heard you speak. I knew I would be physically, but emotionally I believe I was instrumental in making his passing a memorable time for all of us. Between my doula training and your workshop I believe I made a difference. Thank you for being brought into my life at this most important time.

Your workshop was amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us and guide us to our own answers and awareness. It was more of a learning experience than I could have imagined and it transcended beyond just learning how to support women through perinatal loss to learning how to support ourselves and all of those around us no matter what the situation. I would love to see you come back next year and this time, I'll bring more friends!

...I was reconnected with the feelings of wonder and spirit I felt during your workshop. I appreciated the method of story telling that you offered the group... I also appreciated the integration of meditation into your workshop... You are a pleasure to listen to... I will hold a space for you if I come across others who may be interested in sponsoring one of your workshops. Thank you for the wonderful afternoon.

...It was just a lovely and meaningful workshop that you created. There was an opening in the room which allowed for sharing and growth, due to your efforts.

Once again you have looked inside your amazing talent pool and found another way to explore your potential - while helping other people. No matter how hard your road has been - that is an amazing quality that has kept you moving forward throughout your life.

As a woman who has experienced stillbirth personally, the session was healing for me because I was able to see the perspective of and have understanding for those who were not present for me when I needed them to be and I was also able to use my voice to help them understand, when I wasn't able to at the time. As a birth professional, the session helped me to see that even though I have been through a loss personally and perhaps even more so because I have been, that approaching someone else's loss with a completely neutral mind is essential.

I attended a workshop today with my doula-sisters, hosted by Teresa/Georgiadoula in her space and facilitated by Miriam Maslin, who came from jerusalem to do this and a couple of other workshops like it in the US.
It was technically on perinatal loss and how to support a woman through it...but WOW. instead of your typical workshop that involves note-taking and powerpoints and videos, Miriam merely facilitated a group discussion about loss. We had to delve into our own losses and from there extrapolate how to support another woman.
We had guided meditations and open discussion and lots and lots of tears. It was absolutely the most amazing thing I've done in a long time. we go back tomorrow and I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember what the topic is going to be tomorrow but I'm so excited. On call for 3 births and hoping no one births overnight so i can still make it!
It opened the door to a lot (LOT) of inner work that I realize I need to do. I'll be looking at my calendar and scheduling myself some time to "be still and do nothing" so that i can focus on my own *stuff* from recent months. I have quite a few things I've not processed...my hysterectomy being just one.
Thought I'd share...it was amazing.

To discover our hidden
strengths - to perhaps come to this place of knowing that our souls are one with the Master of the Universe - this is our work, this is our labor. Once we own this information, we have the power to do all that we need to do in order to mother our children, to be helpmates for our husbands, to complete our own personal journeys.
