Miriam Maslin is a certified birth assistant and a student of both Chassidut and Polarity Therapy, a holistic system of healing. She sees childbirth as an opportunity for growth.
No two labors are exactly alike because none of us ever remains the same. Each birth compels us to identify the particular challenges, and at the same time, to discover our own individual resources and strengths.
Miriam defines her role as a facilitator in her client's birthing process. She meets with the client for an initial interview, after which several sessions are dedicated to determining challenges and discovering/developing the resources that will help the birthing mother meet those challenges. These sessions may include bodywork, counseling (emotional and spiritual), and exercise.
As labor begins, Miriam continues to support her client in her journey, both at home, if desired, and at the hospital. They work together to create an atmosphere conducive to the inner journey, encouraging the birthing mother to connect with her own neshama (soul), her baby, and with the Source of All Life.
Miriam offers and sees evaluation as a vital part of the birthing process.
Whether the birth fulfills initial hopes and dreams, or whether we discover that the Giver of Life had His own plan, the essence of our process is to birth with joy and gratitude.
